Through our own experience and that of our clients, VDOS has developed its own classification criteria that are helpful for the asset management industry, such as the VDOS Categories or the ESG Criteria.
VDOS Category
The purpose of the VDOS Categories for investment funds and pension plans is to create homogeneous groups of products with comparable investment policies.
In this way, all investment products are classified into groups whose investment policies are equivalent, even though they may adopt different strategies or investment styles to achieve their objectives.
Based on this market segmentation according to the VDOS classification criteria, rankings are calculated in terms of profitability, risk, and ratios for each group, as well as the allocation of the VDOS rating for each product, a quantitative rating to evaluate the risk-adjusted excess return.

The purpose of identifying ESG criteria in investment funds is to have the ability to determine which products incorporate these principles into their investment processes, either globally (ESG) or restricted to one of its three pillars: Environmental (E), Social (S), or Governance (G), as well as their strategy.
In this way, all investment funds can be classified according to equivalent ESG criteria, regardless of their investment scope, geographic criteria, or the type of assets in which they invest.
